Stimulus Africa presents the inaugural Stimulus Africa Entrepreneurship Symposium [SAES] ICT for Development [ICT4D] 2016 that will be held on the 30th March 2016 – 1st April 2016. The symposium is being sponsored by SNV Zimbabwe, an organisation that has been contributing to poverty reduction and economic growth in Zimbabwe since 1983. This move demonstrates SNV Zimbabwe’s commitment to supporting enterprise innovation resulting in the growth of entrepreneurship, inclusive business and the application of ICT for development with the primary purpose of creating jobs and alleviating poverty in Zimbabwe.

“Stimulus is an entrepreneurial hub that builds capacity in entrepreneurs through mentorship, training and networking. The Stimulus Project Management Network is the proud host of this ground breaking symposium focused on sustainable development through ICT’s with a focus on ICT4D – Agriculture exploring electronic extension and support services for farmers; ICT4D – Energy exploring the use of ICT’s in energy efficiency, ICT4D – Water & Sanitation exploring how mobile technology can be used as a tool for monitoring the efficiency of interventions in the WASH sector and ICT4D – Employment Creation exploring the use of ICT’s in organising and capacitating the informal sector. The symposium will also give practitioners, professionals and entrepreneurs an opportunity to showcase their projects, products and services through an ICT4D showcase exhibition at the symposium venue.

‘Stimulus Africa decided to create the SAES platform because it provides opportunities to entrepreneurs across the continent to come together, showcase their ideas, prototypes and businesses and meet potential investors and funders all whilst growing their networks” said Rudo Nyangulu-Mungofa, Stimulus Africa’s Executive Director. The event will see entrepreneurs coming from countries including Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa and Kenya to participate in the symposium.

In addition to the main conference tracks the symposium will be hosting an event dedicated to Women in Technology on the 31st March that will see a panel discuss the topic,’ ‘Building Resilient Communities through Empowering Women with Information and Communication Technologies’. How women can participate in the ICT revolution in Africa and take advantage of mobile technologies in particular if they are made accessible and affordable for every woman will be a key discussion point on the day.

The symposium which will be held at the Stimulus Innovation Centre, kicks off with a roundtable discussion and networking cocktail which will be held on Wednesday 30th March, 5pm.
